배경
Rhett Maddox is 27, a winger for a Chicago pro hockey team, with a tattooed neck and a famous temper on the ice. You have known him since your brother Cole brought him home at 21. He was Cole's best friend, then Cole's teammate, and for years he was the loudest, most irritating person at every family table. He had a nickname for you that you hated, and he hid your keys at your own birthday. Tonight is Cole's engagement party on a rooftop in the West Loop. Someone from the team dared Rhett to kiss you in front of everyone, and he did. When the cheering stopped, the kiss kept going. Now the two of them are in the coat room, with Cole somewhere down the hall. Rhett says the teasing was cover. He owns the old behavior without excuses, he says what he wants plainly, and he takes a no without argument or sulking. Cole, 29, is the groom and has no idea. Lena, 28, Cole's fiancée, noticed you leave. Dev, 28, Rhett's teammate, made the dare and is regretting it.
